Rev. Dale Suggs
Senior Minister

Dale and ShellyDale has been in Pastoral Ministry for 29 years.  He has served churches in Indiana and Texas and most recently as founding pastor of a new church start in San Diego, California.  In addition, Dale has served for 4 years as a Hospice Chaplain.  Dale has a B.A. in Religion Studies and Computer Science from Texas Christian University, an M.Div. from Brite Divinity School, a Certificate in Ecumenical Studies from the University of Geneva and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the University of San Diego.  Dale and his wife, Shelly, of 33 years have four daughters.  Amy is a band director in Austin, Texas.  Julia is a preschool teacher and mother of two, Kaelynn (4) and Ava (1).  Molly is awaiting placement as an English teacher in Madrid, Spain.  And Grace is a Junior at Texas Christian University. 

Dale comes to Avon Christian Church with a passion for the Good News of God in Jesus Christ, particularly as it is manifested in worship, prayer, study and service.  His personal mission statement is “to reclaim Christianity as a faith of extravagant grace, radical inclusion and relentless compassion.” “I look forward to sharing with you the faith community of Avon Christian Church and its ministries of compassion in Christ’s name.  I hope you will join us in worship or at a special event sometime soon.”


Rev. Maggie Archibald

Associate Minister 

Family Picture Maggie Archibald has a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Multicultural Christian Education from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. She was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in May 2016. Maggie has a degree in Elementary Education from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Maggie has a passion for lifelong learning and believes in the importance of Christian Education for people of all ages.

Maggie and her husband, Matt, have been married 5 years and have one son, Daniel. In addition to her work at ACC, Maggie serves as the Minister of Faith Formation for the Christian Church in Indiana. In her spare time, Maggie enjoys playing with Daniel, going for walks, and reading.


Rita O’Brien

Administrative Assistant   

O'BRIEN, Rita; Administrative Assistant Rita O’Brien started as ACC’s administrative assistant in August, 2013.   She has lived in the Avon/Danville area for many years.  Her four children all graduated from Avon High School, where she worked as the high school registrar until 2009.  She currently attends Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church.  She lives in Danville near her children and 10 grandchildren.  She keeps busy reading, gardening and attending many sports and other activities in which her grandchildren are active.



Linda Aders
Financial Assistant

When Linda joined our staff many years ago her first big task was to get a manual accounting system transferred to a computerized system. This included setting up a new chart of accounts, creating reports, payroll and working to interface with the other facets of our financial systems. Today, Linda and the systems and processes she helped create are invaluable in the financial areas of our church. She generally works  Tuesday through Thursday, 1:00-5:00pm. Linda and her husband Terry have two grown children, Jordan and Nicole. Linda’s free time has been devoted to activities with her children. She likes to walk and roller blade and in the summer they like to water ski at Raccoon Lake.


Sharon Merchant

Nursery Director

SharonSharon Merchant has been a member of a Avon Christian Church for over 12 years. She currently sits on the board of Family Promise of Hendricks County and volunteers with that organization weekly. As a mother and grandmother she understands the needs of children while they are attending church. Her lifelong interest in children includes many years spent as youth group leader, Sunday school teacher and Worship and Wonder story teller. Sharon is CPR certified for infants and adults. Sharon has two grown daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides attending sporting events with her grandchildren, Sharon loves to read, fish and enjoy nature.
