Frequently Asked Questions

We are committed to embracing the full diversity of God’s creativity expressed in various races, sexual orientations, gender identities, socioeconomic statuses, faiths, and backgrounds.

For us, this means absolutely everyone is welcome to participate in absolutely every aspect of our church’s life and ministry- no one is excluded because of who they are, where they’ve been, or how they identify.

So, whoever you are, you are welcome here.

We are a community of people with a wide range of beliefs. One thing that unites us is our commitment to learning from and following Jesus Christ.

We invite you to join in on the robust discussion about what each of us believes and how that helps us to live more healthy, whole lives in the world.

All of that to say: no one is forced to believe anything to be a part of our community.

We gather together every Sunday morning on County Road 100 S. in Avon. We have two services, at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:35 a.m.

Our services last about one hour and include a time of singing, a time of prayer or meditation, an inspirational message, and communion. We offer childcare at every one of our services as well.

Before or after our service, be sure to stop in Sacred Grounds for coffee!

Our mission can be summed up with these three words:

Spirit | Loving God:
Vertical reach to touch God. We reach up through worship.

Community | Serving Each Other:
Horizontal reach to bless others. We serve God by serving each other.

Service | Changing The World:
Outward reach to can change the world. We have to be bold and courageous. Jesus commanded us to go into the entire world and present the good news.

We believe that actions speak louder than words, and works are more important than belief. We’re a church that celebrates curiosity and conviction, and doesn’t think that we’ve got it all (or anything) figured out. We believe that by walking together as a diverse community with different beliefs and opinions, we’re all challenged to grow and expand our thinking, which is kind of the point. Most of all, we are a community. We are committed to loving and doing life with each other through the thick and thin of it, and pulling together our collective energies to make a tangible impact on Avon for the common good of everyone.

We’re truly a different kind of church, and we hope you’ll join us one Sunday to see these words in action.

Community: We believe that God is most powerfully experienced in relationship to other people. We commit to doing life with one another through the highs and lows, supporting, encouraging, and empowering one another to grow in spiritual maturity and wholeness as we seek to live into our mission together to impact Avon.

Christ: We are a community centered on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. We uphold our denominations (The Disciples of Christ) theological declaration that there is no creed but Christ, and therefore welcome everyone’s various beliefs and perspectives to the table and refuse to divide over theological disagreements but instead engage in robust dialogue about our beliefs and experiences, as we seek to conform our lives to the example of Jesus.

With a passion and zeal for the lost and hurting world, our church is looking for ways to build bridges to a cynical and jaded society. We aim to take a different approach in reaching out and helping people along the journey. We stress cultural relevancy and utilize all media and means to communicate the church message. It’s very important to believe that you’re the one.
